Q&A

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO HANDLING PRESSURE DURING COMPETITION?

I take a deep breath, focus on the pitcher and the situation, and block everything else out.

I remind myself that what’s in the past can’t be changed. I focus on the next play, the next at-bat, and the next opportunity. Taking it one pitch, one inning, and one game at a time helps me stay locked in.

Short-term, I want to help my team win, hit the ball hard every game, and play error-free defense. Long-term, I want to play the game for as long as I can and work hard to achieve everyone’s dream of making it to the MLB—and inspire others along the way.

I care about my teammates’ success as much as my own. Even when I’m having a bad game, I always make sure to lift them up and keep everyone locked in. I lead by example and work hard for my team.

My training routine is structured and disciplined. I adjust my workouts depending on the season, but every day I focus on speed, base stealing, and hitting. During summer and fall, I train almost daily. In the spring, I balance workouts with recovery to stay fresh.

I always say a quick prayer, go through my dynamic stretches, and run sprints before the game to get my body and mind locked in.

My speed, base stealing, and continuing to refine my hitting approach.

I wake up at 5:30 AM and get a quick workout in before school. During weightlifting class, I do arm care and light lifts. After school, I have practice, then I stay after for extra work. If there’s a team workout that day, I hit the gym again. I finish my day with homework, recovery, and getting ready to do it all again.

My favorite player is Francisco Lindor and I wear number 15 because of Dustin Pedroia.
